FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What would you like to know?
Answers to common questions about training, safety support and arranging a conversation with PASS.
Forklift training
Is PASS accredited?
No. PASS is not an accredited training provider. If your employer, client or site requires training accredited by a particular body, please discuss this with Paul before booking.
Which training should I ask about?
Tell Paul whether the operator is new to lift trucks, already experienced, returning after a break or moving to a different truck type. Include any previous training records so the appropriate training can be discussed.
How often is refresher training needed?
HSE does not specify a fixed refresher interval. Operators need monitoring and periodic reassessment. A break from operating, unsafe practices, an accident or near miss, or changes at work can prompt further assessment or training. Read HSE's refresher guidance.
Does basic training cover everything?
Basic training is one of three stages. Operators also need training for their specific job and supervised familiarisation in the workplace. See HSE's training stages.
Can an operator use a different type of lift truck?
Training on one type does not automatically cover another. Conversion training may be needed for a different truck or attachment. Discuss the equipment and previous training with Paul. Read HSE's lift truck guidance.
How long will the training take and what will it cost?
This depends on the truck type, the operators' experience, the number of people and the training required. Send those details with your location and preferred dates to request a tailored quote.
Health and safety support
What can PASS help with?
PASS provides forklift training and practical health and safety consultancy, including support with workplace risk assessments, policies, procedures and safety documentation. Speak to Paul about the work you need help with.
What is a workplace risk assessment?
It is a process for identifying hazards, considering who could be harmed and deciding how to remove or control the risks. It should reflect the work actually being done. Read HSE's risk assessment overview.
Can I use a generic risk assessment template?
A template can help organise your findings, but the assessment must address your own workplace, activities and risks. Copying a document without adapting it will not establish that those risks are controlled. See HSE's approach to managing risk.
